THE DIFFERENT TAPS

  • Standard set :
The standard set of 2 (for the finest pitch) or of 3 taps is the most commonly used in usual repair cases, maintenance and all common works in materials such as mild or mid-hard stells, light alloys or certain plastics.
In the case of slim inner wall tapping, the tap passage is rougher on all the comb height and is sufficient to obtain a complete thread.
This type of set is availbale in ISO529 and ISO 2284.
  • Staggered set:
The staggered set of 2 taps(for the finest pitch) or of 3 taps is intended for applications that require particularly tight tolerances, or while work with high-strength or difficult workability materials.
The successive passage of the diverse tools of the set is absolutely necessary in all cases.
This type of set is exclusively available in the ISO 529 standard.
  • Staggered set with Pilot :
The staggered set of 3 taps with Pilot is intended for particularly demanding users in terms of the geometrical precision of their tappings.
The pilot of N°1 tap ensures a perfect coaxiality between drilling and tapping. It should be noted that this tool cannot be used in case not very deep holes. This type of set is available in the ISO529 standard for the most common metric dimensions.

  • GUN Lead:
TARAUD The tap with right grooves and GUN lead is dedicated exclusively to emerging hole tapping.
A typical sharpening pushes the chips against the advance making it possible to even increase the number of revolutions in materials with long chips.
This geometry is available in the ISO529 and DIN371 / 376 standards.
  • GUN Lead and Alternate threads :
TARAUD_GUN On the GUN lead tap with alternating threads, the cutting edges of each comb are alternatively removed.
This helps to split the chips in the case of materials with long chips, and to significantly reduce the resistive torque due to friction in materials which have a hammering tendency, like certain stainless steels.
This geometry is exclusively dedicated to tapping emerging holes with thicknesses larger than 2 times the pitch.
This geometry is available in the ISO529 and DIn371 / 376 standards.
  • 30° Helical flute:
TARAUD_TROUBORGNE_30 The helical flute tap with a 30° helix is used for general tapping in one-eyed holes of ferrous materials or non-ferrous materials with shor or average chips.
This is the most commonly used model among helical tools.
This geometry is available in the ISO529 and DIN 371 / 376 standards.
  • 40° Helical flute:
PICTO_Anglehelice_goujure_helicoidale40 The helical flute tap with a 40° fast helix is used in specialized tools to which it brings an excellent control of the chip disposal at high speed.
This type of tools is particularly intended for serialized works on rigid and precise machines.
. This geometry is only available in DIN standards 371 / 376.
  • Upsetting taps :
TARAUD_TROUBORGNE_REFOULER The process of tapping by deformation allows particularly resistant tappings in cold forged threads. It requires a rigid machine and lubrification, but it provides enormous productivity benefits in ductile materials such as light alloys, mild steels, certain stainless steels, etc...
The version 6220G with lubrification flute allows the lubrificant to flow efficiently during hole machining.

  • THE COLOR RING TAPS :
    TARAUD_SPE_VERT
  • Green ring :
Hard Aluminium and AI-Si alloys (Si>10%), hard Bronze.
  • TARAUD_SPE_BLEU
  • Blue ring :
    Stainless steels (Z2CN18-10, Z18CN16-02, etc...)
  • TARAUD_SPE_ROU
  • Red ring:
Tool steels, combined and treated (Z160CDV12, Z200C13, etc...).

  • TARAUD_SPE_OR
  • Orange ring :
    General use hard or mid-steels (XC48, XC60, 25CD4 etc...)
  • TARAUD_SPE_JAU
  • Yellow ring :
Soft aluminium and alloys (AU4G, AG6, Zamac), soft copper, zinc, plastics, etc...
  • TARAUD_SPE_BLANC
  • White ring :
    abrasive materials and cast iron...

  • The color ring taps are specialized tools with an optimized geometry for a given type of material.
They are available in DIN 371 and 376 for the most current dimensions (M3 à M20), and in GUN entry for emerging holes or 40° helical grooves for one-eyed holes.
