Drilling of holes of big diameter
For holes of several tens mm in diameter, we replace drill and auger bits by particular tools.
Hole saw blade hale saw are constituted by 1 small bit of centring, blade of curved and exchangeable saws or knives, capable of working little in the style of a punch, in the wished diameter. This tool allows the opening of circular holes in the full wood, the laminates and the plywoods until a thickness of 20-25mm.
The expended drill bit contains 1 centering drill bit and 1 knife of unique cut, contrary to the previous case, the variation of the diameter being obtained here by releasing and adjustment of the knife. The expended drill bit allows to cut big diameters (beyond 60mm) but its handling requires a certain habituation.
The drilling by means of special invisible hinge sinker bit with tracing tips is identical.
Available in diameter going to 35 mm, they allow mainly the inlay of invisible hinges in doors.
The making of a mortice.
Mortices are rectangular or elongated holes drilled in the wood with the aim of assembly, or to accommodate a lock.
The successive holes intended for the opening can be blind or not (place of the lock). The rectangle is drawn in the pencil, then holes are just positioned tangent.
The finishing work is achieved with a wood chisel. If we wish to keep a mortice with round edges, it is usefull using gouging bit.
